WALK: THE ‘ROOTS’ OF LABOUR ORGANISING IN THE 19th CENTURY – BELPER 250
A walk through the town with Roger Tanner to explore how workers organised to improve working conditions and living standards through the 19th century, in friendly societies, trade unions and political movements, recognising the significant part played by the efforts of Belper people in this story; of men, women and children in cotton mills, as well as nailers and foundry workers, framework knitters, coal miners and other trades.
Venue: Start from Belper Market Place – Time: 10.30am
Cost: Free to all, donations welcome – Booking: No need to book – just turn up.

PRESERVING BELPER’S INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE
A project coordinated by Belper Historical Society (BHS), aiming to engage with communities in and around Belper who may have relatives who worked in the many Belper factories and have treasures hidden away in cupboards and
dusty attics. Volunteer BHS ‘curators’ will help to collect, organise and preserve factory-
Once catalogued and digitised, original materials will be offered to the Derbyshire Record Office for long term storage. Donated artefacts will be added to the secure BHS store, to be used in future research and exhibitions.
A BHS team will attend the monthly Belper Market, to promote the project, offer advice on materials being organised before donation, and collect donated materials. Later market dates for 2026 are 11th April, 9th May, 13th June, 11th July, 8th August, 12th September, 10th October, 14th November and 12th December.

Step back in time to the Inns and Taverns of the Town to discover their historic past and entertaining stories.
This easy to moderate one mile walk includes a mid-
Meet at The Talbot pub, Bridgefoot. The walk lasts approximately 2 hours.
Please note this is not a circular walk and finishes at the Old King's Head on Days Lane.
A Souvenir Map of this Walk created by a local artist is available from the guide. Donation required.
Available dates: Sunday July 12, October 11 at 2pm, and December 20 at 1.30pm.
Unfortunately, we don't allow dogs on this walk.

The Bohemians 30th Anniversary Concert is scheduled for Saturday, 18th July 2026, at St Peter's Church, Belper (DE56 1EZ) from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM. This Queen tribute act will perform classics from the 70s and 80s, with tickets available for purchase via TicketSource and through the church office.

A talk by the Pentrich and South Wingfield Revolution Group. The Strutts supported the rebels, declining jury service and pushing for pardons. 300th ANNIVERSARY OF JEDEDIAH STRUTT – COMMEMORATIVE SERVICE – BELPER 250
Join Belper Unitarians as they honour the 300th anniversary of Jedediah Strutt, founder of the historic chapel building. This special service will commemorate his remarkable legacy – from pioneering social action to shaping the community and industry that still echo through Belper today. Open to all, of any faith or none, it offers a chance to reflect on our shared heritage and the enduring spirit of innovation and community. One hour service followed by refreshments.
